The History of Newlay Civil Engineering







Newlay Civil Engineering was founded in 1987 by the 2 partners Charles Gibson and John Paterson who had gained experience in the Roads surfacing market working for other companies for a number of years.

Initially the business was ran from a small operations depot in Coatbridge, the workforce consisted of the 2 partners supported by 5 other operatives and contacts were minor value local authority works with values of 10 - 30 thousand pounds.

Over the last 24 years the partners have grown and developed the business to a market leader in their field who are regularly successful in competative tendering for major contracts valued 250k - 1 million+ pounds, supplementing these are numerous minor works bids which are regularly attained. In addition the company's assets have grown and they now boast:-

-600m2 Office Accommodation.
-300m2 Transport Workshop.
-0.8 Acre Operations Depot.
-Plant and Vehicles valued at over 2 million pounds.
-5 Operational Management Staff.
-4 Office Administration Staff.
-3 Workshop Staff.
-Over 40 qualified and experienced operations personnel.
